The opportunity

As the Coordinator for the Strategic and Environmental Planning section, you will provide leadership and supervision to the team to ensure strategic land use plans are in place, long term infrastructure needs are identified and planned for, and planning for flooding, coastal zone management and environmental and heritage protection is undertaken.  To be successful in this position you should have tertiary qualifications in urban and regional planning or similar, experience in strategic and environmental planning, and excellent project management skills.  Knowledge and understanding of the planning system, and leadership skills are required.

Key accountabilities

The tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating strategic land use and environmental planning for the Macleay Valley
  • Ensuring a fit-for-purpose suite of land use and growth management strategies and plans for the Shire
  • Ensuring Council achieves its goals and aspirations across a range of environmental sustainability areas including biodiversity, natural area restoration, coastal management, and estuaries and rivers
  • Managing the Developer Contributions System
